I’m pretty sure I was born loving horses and the blame for that falls squarely on my mother’s shoulders. She owned a chestnut thoroughbred mare that I’m sure I was sat upon once I could sit under my own power. Thus began my live long obsession. I’ve had the pleasure (and sometimes displeasure, lol) of riding numerous different horses, from lesson horses to two retirees that are now enjoying pasture ornament life at the family acreage. It is, however, my current partner, that has taught me the most in our brief three years as riding partners. Raffi (Rafael ES) is a 15.0H 2008 Morgan gelding that I’ve owned his whole life, but didn’t become real partners until he was four and I started him under Amberley’s tutelage. My primary discipline of choice is eventing and I’ve had the immense pleasure of competing successful in it with Raffi for the last two seasons. I have also acquired a new appreciation for dressage with my little super pony, which may lead to a discipline change for our partnership sometime in the future. But whoever knows with horses? We plan to upgrade in the 2016 season to Training level eventing, which is very exciting as this will be a whole new challenge for both of us. I also have Pan (Pandemonium ES), a 2011 CSHA gelding, who I am working on bringing along with Amberley’s instruction. I am very excited about the coming years with both my horses and am eager to work hard on continuing to sharpen our skills and expand my knowledge.
